Effexor is a capsule to be used orally. It is normally taken once a day with food. Each capsule is to be swallowed whole with liquid and it is advised not to divide, crush, chew or place it in water. Another way how it may be taken is carefully opening the capsule and sprinkling its entire contents on a spoonful of applesauce. This medication/food mixture is to be swallowed at once without chewing ; then a glass of water is to be drunk in order to ensure complete swallowing of the pellets.
Venlafaxine is one of a new class of anti-depressant medicines that affects chemical messengers in your brain. In case you miss a dose of this drug, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip it and take only the next one as it should be. Do not take double doses of this drug.
Effexor is to be stored at room temperature (68F to 77F or 20C to 25C). Please keep it away from children.
